Modular automatic assembly system expanded

A Mikron Assembly Technology product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Nov 20, 2006

Standardized pick and place units, feeders or Cartesian robots with X, Y, Z and R axes can be employed on a uniform chassis in the latest automatic linear assembly systems.

Modern manufacturing and assembly systems are demanding increasing flexibility plus the ability to respond rapidly to changing conditions.

Strict standardization and a modular structure mean that Mikron Assembly Technology's G05 linear assembly platform is ideal to satisfy these requirements.

Standard mechanical and electrical assemblies such as chassis, handling units, process modules, transportation systems and even software modules can be easily combined and exchanged with each other.

The system can be used to construct hybrid systems comprising manual, semiautomatic and fully automatic cells.

Individual process units such as pick and place units, press units, etc, can be exchanged and reused even in complex process modules.

Moreover, process units have standard interfaces that enable them to be quickly and accurately changed.

The system solution providers from the Swiss town of Boudry have also developed the G05 Palletizer G05 Polyfeed feeding systems and G05 Assembly Center to compliment the platform.

Standardized pick and place units, feeders or Cartesian robots with X, Y, Z and R axes can be employed on a uniform chassis.

The standardized component feeder used by Palletizer and Polyfeed enhances the flexibility and rapid availability of G05 assembly systems.

The new G05 Assembly Centers, which are based upon the proven Polyfeed feeding systems with a Cartesian robot, are a valuable addition to the product family.

With their own control system and operating terminal they offer everything a sophisticated assembly cell needs, right down to peripheral control.

Because they all have an identical control architecture and the same interfaces, the Assembly Centers are easily integrated into G05 assembly lines.

As stand-alone assembly cells they can be combined in series to form flexible assembly lines or used as a valuable add-on to existing high-performance cells.

The G05 assembly platform is designed for components that will fit into your hand.

Its fully modular design and standardization permit flexible system design and rapid implementation or retooling.

From stand-alone Assembly Centers to cam-controlled process units for high-volume production, the G05 assembly platform is capable of output rates of up to 100 parts/min and can handle a wide range of variants.

Because G05 systems can be rapidly adapted to market-driven changes in capacity and/or variants.

the G05 product family permits continuous unit cost optimization enabling phased investment and meeting today's market demands in a flexible and cost effective manner.
