NC simulation checks for machining gouges

A MachineWorks product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Aug 26, 2005

'On-the-fly' gouge detection in NC simulation/verification software checks for gouges during simulation rather than having to wait for a status report at the end of the simulation.

MachineWorks, the world's leading supplier of NC simulation and verification solutions, will be exhibiting its latest technology at the EMO exhibition to be held in Hannover 14-21 September, Hall 15, Booth D60.

On show will be MachineWorks v6.2, released earlier this year, which makes available a number of important functionality enhancements.

'On-the-fly' gouge detection allows users to check for gouges during simulation rather than having to wait for a status report at the end of the simulation.

Other enhancements include the ability to save and restore the stock at any point during a machining session, the simplification of tool geometry and the creation of profiles from polygonal solids.

Developments in OpenGL rendering available as standard include a texture image manipulation facility that gives improved quality of texture images and shadows.

MachineWorks v6.2 also includes an optional module for more sophisticated OpenGL features such as metallic effect rendering, mirror effect rendering and the application of multiple textures to a surface.

These new graphics capabilities allow the creation of superb quality images and animations that are of particular interest for the generation of high quality promotional and demonstration materials.

Visitors to the MachineWorks booth will be able to take away the latest multimedia CD showcasing the unique capabilities of MachineWorks' technology.

* About MachineWorks - MachineWorks Technology is the industry standard for CNC simulation and verification component software.

Our toolkit has been adopted by software and hardware OEMs looking for a solution that combines speed, accuracy and stability.

It is ideally suited for complex machining simulation, clash detection and full machine simulation.
