Mitsubishi's implementation of MachineWorks
MachineWorks allows MWS to seamlessly simulate three different machining processes, wire EDM, milling and electrode in a single window.
MachineWorks, industry leader of simulation and verification solutions and Mitsubishi Electric Mechatronics Software (MSW), supplier of CAD/CAM Systems for EDM (Nagoya, Japan part of the Mitsubishi Electric Group) discuss their implementation of MachineWorks Technology.
MSW has integrated MachineWorks technology providing its customers with exceptionally accurate simulation features such as material removal, clash detection, part comparison analysis, dynamic rotation and zooming.
"We are thrilled with the range of functionality that MachineWorks technology provides.
In particular, the way MachineWorks simulation and verification can be spread to all the processes we use." comments Mr Yutaka Tanaka, Head of CAM Centre at MSW, "We can now go from wire EDM to milling to electrode as if they all were one process." MachineWorks allows MWS to seamlessly simulate three different machining processes, wire EDM, milling and electrode in a single window.
Once the wire EDM process is completed, the user can find out about the status of the cut parts as well as simulate the remaining work thanks to MachineWorks target part comparison function.
The verification offered by MachineWorks also works seamlessly throughout the different processes.
Before the electrode process begins, the rest material left from the milling as well as the electrode position can be verified.
One of the advantages that MSW has experienced regarding their wire EDM process is that it can be carried out from two different orientations that it can be programmed in advance.
"MachineWorks development and support team has been closely working with MSW to make the most of their specialised machining strategy.", comments Yuji Nakajima, MachineWorks Japan Representative.
