3-D modelling drives business development
Forbes Group Selects Micro Concepts and Autodesk Inventor to Support Turnkey Design
Leading Autodesk Solutions and Training provider, Micro Concepts, has confirmed an agreement to provide Forbes Group (Forbes) with Autodesk Inventor Series and Inventor Professional 3-D design software, as the company seeks to build on its position of pre-eminence in its chosen markets.
Forbes is the UK's largest manufacturer of custom-designed and built plastic tanks and fabrications and has significant expertise in environmental technologies.
"We recognised the need to move to 3-D modelling to provide our clients with a rapid and high-quality design service," confirms IT manager, Roberto Ramasso.
"As we continue to develop our technical expertise in order to provide turnkey solutions and move into new markets," he says, "Inventor's highly intuitive approach will offer us the ideal tool to speed up the design process and involve clients effectively from an early stage".
"Critically, its ability to integrate with our AutoCAD-based designs means that we can retain and utilise our existing 2-D capability and, in effect, give us the best of both 2-D and 3-D worlds." The selection of service provider was equally important.
"We chose Micro Concepts as it has a strong reputation for the quality of its consultancy advice and technical support," recalls Ramasso, who had previous successful experience in working with the Autodesk Partner.
"This has been fully borne out in its relationship with Forbes to-date," he confirms.
Forbes and Micro Concepts plan a phased introduction of the Autodesk software, which will include integration with the company's manufacturing resource system, automating the production of bills of materials, for example, to support the manufacturing and purchasing teams.
For Mark Mills, sales manager, Micro Concepts, "Forbes provides a typical example of how Inventor enables manufacturing businesses to deliver responsive and flexible designs in increasingly competitive and demanding markets.".
