Instruments company moves to new factory
Michell Instruments has moved into a custom-built factory that has a new service laboratory designed to provide the customer with the best possible service.
Michell Instruments are delighted to announce that they have moved into brand new, custom-built offices in north Cambridgeshire.
Based just outside the cathedral city of Ely, UK, the new offices have been developed to house Michell Instruments expanding team.
The new custom-built factory boasts a completely new service laboratory designed to provide the customer with the best possible service.
There is also a new production line that will in turn offer reduced delivery times and added value for the customer.
The new factory not only improves the working environment and development of Michell Instruments, but also reflects the direction of the company as it expands as a global force and brand.
The 25,000ft2 premises were developed in the Lancaster Way Business Park, situated just two miles from the Ely's historic city centre.
The park is a modern and fast-developing area with direct links by rail to London and a central location to other key cities in the UK.
The site also has room for further expansion in the future as Michell Instruments continues to grow.
Michell Instruments CEO, Mike Bannister added these comments about Michell's move: "I am extremely proud of our new Head Office in Ely.
The custom-designed R and D, manufacturing and office facilities provide our staff with almost twice the space we previously had in Cambridge.
Our continued rapid growth as a world-wide force in industrial instrumentation is helped tremendously by the availability of first class facilities.
The 3.7 acre site provides us with ample opportunity to further expand here in Ely to meet future demand for Michell's products and services." The move signalled the end to Cambridge premises that was home to Michell for nearly 30 years.
The Nuffield Close offices were sufficient for Michell Instruments in the beginning, but as time went on and the company expanded, a move was the next likely step.
Michell Instruments currently employ over 100 staff, 70 of those based in the Ely headquarters.
Of his team, Bannister added: "Our dedicated staff have made a tremendous effort in executing the move from Cambridge to Ely in only four working days and our production unit was back in operation after only two days, ensuring minimum disruption for our customers.".
