Clive Bamforth, who is chairman and managing director of Machine Tool Sales - as well as the owner of Machine Tool Services (GB), - had for some time been seeking to complement his successful service company with machine tool sales.
Tom Grieve, who is the new company's sales director, is well known throughout the industry and has had considerable recent success as an independent agent selling Italian built machining centres and manufacturing systems.
However he knew that there was potential for even greater success if he could also offer after sales support as available from Machine Tool Services, which has its own mechanical and electronic/electrical service engineers located throughout the UK.
The new company has so far signed up to represent three major Italian machine tool manufacturers, with the signing of a fourth company imminent.
MCM Spa (www.mcmspa.it) which has subsidiaries in France, Germany and the US, is a major manufacturer of machining centres and manufacturing systems with many prestigious installations, including those at Ferrari (automotive), Benelli (armaments) and Dassault (aerospace).
IMT Intermato Spa (www.imtintermato.com) who is a manufacturer of high speed vertical lathes that are used in the automotive and aerospace industries, while Tacchella Spa (www.tacchella.it) manufactures a wide range of CNC grinding machines for the automotive and aerospace sectors, with existing installations in the UK.
Machine Tool Services (GB) Ltd., will now provide service and support to these existing customers and to this end have already spent a considerable time in Italy on training programs for the Tacchella range of grinders.
Grieve says : "We believe that our combination of high quality machines and our comprehensive after sales support - plus the ability to assist our principles with installations, as required - will give the UK customers a cost effective access to highly productive installations".
