MMMA continues craft awards sponsorship
The Metalforming Machinery Makers' Association has said that it will continue its sponsorship and support of the Institute of Sheet Metal Engineering National Craft Awards next year.
The Metalforming Machinery Makers' Association (MMMA) has announced that it will continue its sponsorship and support of the Institute of Sheet Metal Engineering (ISME) National Craft Awards in June 2004.
These awards are given in association with Jaguar Cars to young artisans from the Sheet Metal Industry, who measure their skills against others in the industry.
There are two classes of entry, the 'Open' Class and the 'Test Piece' class.
Support from the MMMA is given through the presentation of the 'MMMA Trophy' which is awarded for the Open Class entry that best demonstrates the use of metalforming machinery in the manufacture of the entrants component.
The Open class is open to competitors of all ages, with no restriction on the size or design of the work piece or on the materials used, the only stipulation being that the piece uses sheet metal as the principal material.
The 2004 event will be held at the Jaguar Cars' Castle Bromwich plant in Birmingham.
Tim Albutt, MMMA Chairman said: "We are pleased to support and be associated with this prestigious event that helps to promote the skills and expertise that is found in young people within the Sheet Metal Industry.
The level and expertise of previous entrants shows that we have so much experience and so many skills in our manufacturing industries and they are our future.".
