Monitor for chloride in catalytic reformers
Molecular Analytics has introduced the ProSentry-IMS analyzer to monitor for chloride in catalytic reformers.
Molecular Analytics has introduced the ProSentry-IMS analyzer to monitor for chloride in catalytic reformers.
Monitoring the correct chloride/moisture ratio in a catalyst is one of the most important parameters governing the operation of an efficient catalytic reformer process.
The correct ratio can improve product yields and increase catalyst life while incorrect ratios can reduce profitability, decrease catalyst stability, and create days, if not weeks, of adjusting to correct process chloride content.
Traditional monitoring methods involve the occasional "grab" sampling from the reformer process and analysis of the samples using colorimetric tubes.
Besides the obvious safety issues involved with workers sampling high pressure process units, this sampling method can result in operator errors due to color interpretation and insufficient, infrequent sampling.
These problems hinder speedy response and thus make maintaining a chloride/ moisture equilibrium difficult, if not impossible.
The ProSentry-IMS analyzer is based upon field-proven, Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) technology that is highly selective and sensitive.
Onboard analyzer "intelligence" provides for easy, user-friendly operation with accurate, direct, low ppb to ppm measurement of chloride and is unaffected by changes in temperature and humidity.
Real-time, continuous data from the ProSentry-IMS analyzer makes it possible to react instantly to changes in chloride levels before problems develop.
This ensures optimum catalyst efficiency and process profitability.
