Malvern Instruments' export achievements were highlighted during a visit by HRH the Duke of York to the company's headquarters in Malvern UK on 11 December 2003.

Malvern Instruments' export achievements were highlighted during a visit by HRH the Duke of York to the company's headquarters in Malvern UK on 11 December Prince Andrew visited in his capacity as Special Representative for International Trade and Investment for British Trade International (BTI), the government body that supports UK companies trading internationally

Particle characterization is an essential tool used throughout manufacturing industry and Malvern's laboratory-based and in-process systems are used world-wide.

The company has subsidiaries in key European countries, the US and Japan, and a network of distributors throughout the world.

In 2002 more than 90% of sales were into overseas markets, with 10% growth in export sales year on year.

During the course of the visit, Prince Andrew was able to meet the Malvern Instruments export sales team, learn about the company's manufacturing procedures and participate in demonstrations of particle analysis.

The recently launched Zetasizer Nano system was used to illustrate the company's design philosophy and development processes.

This pioneering instrument measures particles in the nanometer size range and is being used in a wide range of emerging nanotechnology applications.

Following the visit Jane Bishop, commercial director at Malvern Instruments, said: "We have been very pleased to emphasise Malvern Instruments success in developing high technology instruments that benefit manufacturing industry throughout the world.
