Dr Alan Rawle will deliver one of the keynote lectures at the 2nd Annual Regulatory and Analytical Approach to Biomolecular Impurities conference.

Dr Alan Rawle, Divisional Manager for Applications Support at Malvern Instruments, will deliver one of the keynote lectures at the 2nd Annual Regulatory and Analytical Approach to Biomolecular Impurities conference, which takes place on 7th and 8th November 2006 in San Francisco, USA.

Dr Kevin Mattison, DTS Product Manager at Malvern Instruments , will also make a presentation on the use of light scattering techniques for monitoring and predicting biomolecular aggregation.

Dr Rawle is currently co-chairman of the ASTM E56 Committee on Nanotechnology, which addresses issues related to standards and guidance materials for nanotechnology and nanomaterials.

In his lecture he will discuss the development of standards in the fields of nanotechnology and biomolecular science.

Progress in the field of biomolecular science remains rapid but there are as yet no clear standards for biomolecular impurities in terms of either regulatory expectation or analytical techniques.

This conference offers a forum for the discussion of regulatory guidance, and both old and new analytical approaches.

In his talk Dr Rawle will discuss both the materials and methods necessary for effective standards.

The development of worldwide standardisation procedures will be examined together with the role of the regulatory authorities and international bodies involved.

Current issues in the areas of nanotechnology and biomolecular science will be highlighted.
