Particle/droplet size analyser in
workshop
The Malvern Instruments particle/droplet size analyser is featured in a workshop co-hosted with Next Breath at the forthcoming respiratory drug delivery conference RDD Europe 2007.
Malvern Instruments and Next Breath will jointly host a workshop at the forthcoming respiratory drug delivery conference RDD Europe 2007 which takes place from 17-20 April 2007 in Paris The workshop entitled "Evaluating the robustness of drug delivery systems using laser diffraction" will be run by Dr Paul Kippax, product manager for diffraction systems at Malvern and Dr Julie Suman, president of NextBreath LLC

Particle measurement aids paint performance

Scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday 18 April, the workshop will feature demonstrations of the Malvern Spraytec particle/droplet size analyser and will focus on the requirements for evaluating the robustness of drug delivery systems using the technique of laser diffraction, with specific reference to nasal products.
The effect of both formulation and pump parameters on the nature of the spray produced will be explored.
Highlighted especially will be the value of the highly time-resolved data generated by laser diffraction in understanding droplet formation and delivery.
Malvern's Spraytec system uses laser diffraction to measure particle size and is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry for the analysis of nasal sprays and inhalers.
It delivers real-time, high-speed measurements that enable the complete characterisation of both continuous and pulsed spray events.
Speed of measurement is a particularly attractive feature and the data produced offers valuable insight into the processes of particle formation and dispersion during inhaler and nasal spray operation.
