Up to 70% more EDM filter provided in
same space
Using macropleat technology, filters for EDM machines offer longer service life since partly up to 70% more filter surface area is now available in the same filter installation space.
At EMO 2003 Mann und Hummel, the development partner and series supplier to the international automobile and mechanical engineering industry, will focus on two new products These are the new large filters of the H31/

Large filter series with new macropleat technology - at EMO Mann und Hummel launched its new range of large filters of the H 31/ - and H 34/ - series for EDM machines from Charmilles, Hitachi, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Makino and Sodick and others.
In comparison to conventional products product performance has been considerably increased with regard to service life, pressure stability and handling: The series offers longer service life since partly up to 70% more filter surface area is now available in the same filter installation space.

Plastics filters for EDM have long life

Software programs press brake robots rapidly
Computer software quickly and efficiently programs robots for use in tending press brakes in a rapid, simple off-line process that copes with complex work.
This is made possible through the combination of two technologies which serve to stabilise the paper.
In the new filters the adhesive line goes from the top down to the bottom of the pleat.
In combination with the proven special structuring of Mann und Hummel filter papers it is possible to create high pleats, so-called macropleats.
They prevent the sticking together of the paper pleats and ensure a reliable function for the whole product life of the filter.
A further innovation is the additional thin film coating of all metal components of the filter.
This offers machine users greater process reliability through considerably improved end cover adhesive bonding and therefore a higher pressure stability of the filter over time.
Economy - Mann und Hummel has positioned the Economy for wire-EDM and cavity sinking EDM machines alongside its existing Premium product, the H 15 190/16, as a reasonably-priced alternative to copies.
The Economy offers more performance than today's products from the competition and enjoys the same maximum filtration quality as the Premium product H 15 190/16 without any chemicals influencing the dielectric fluid, and in most cases with a longer service life.
Customers cannot usually find out where copies of the H 15 190/16 are manufactured because a product label or manufacturer's certificate is missing.
The difference in quality between the copies and the H 15 190/16 are often quite considerable and are not visible from the outside: up to 30 per cent shorter service life, ion penetration of the dielectric fluid due to use of adhesives and in extreme cases greatly inferior filtration quality through use of coarse paper.
The differences in quality become apparent with higher running costs, lower process reliability and more wear on the machine.
The often relatively small price difference between the copies and the H 15190/16 cannot compensate for the loss in quality and the higher running costs.
Therefore the new Economy was developed for customers who prefer reasonably-priced standard products to the Premium product, but who nevertheless do not wish to do without the quality and security of a brand name product.
The Economy from Mann und Hummel is recognisable by its black end covers.
The Premium product H 15 190/16 is used by OEM producers for first fit and for replacement parts.
The H 15 190/16 is recommended for customers who require the maximum service life and who for security reasons wish to strictly follow the spare part recommendations of the producer.
The Economy - just as with the H 15 190/16 - can be used with EDM machines from Agie, Charmilles, Deckel, Ingersoll, Jiten, Multiform, Nassovia, Sinitron, Seibu-Walter, Zimmer-Kreim.
