Modern filtration units improve
machining quality
Three filtration products introduced at the Milan EMO offer a filtration performance exceeding that of conventional filters and improving the service life of coolant emulsions and machining quality.
Mann und Hummel, the development partner and series supplier to the international automobile and mechanical engineering industry, presented three new products at EMO, Milan, for the treatment of coolants ProFluid P is an automatic filter with the efficiency of a deep-bed filter

ProFluid P - Mann und Hummel presented the ProFluid P for applications which require a large dirt holding capacity.
A new efficient filter medium combines the advantages of the deep-bed filter and the automatic filter.
In the ProFluid P the filter medium accumulates dirt just like a deep-bed filter, and, at periodic intervals, as with an automatic filter, the dirt is backflushed in a fully automatic process without having to stop production.
The ProFluid P extends the service life of low viscosity machining fluids such as coolant emulsions and also protects other systems fitted downstream.
Their efficiency and economy make these new products from Mann und Hummel some of the best solutions available today on the market.
Advantages of the ProFluid P include: * Considerably greater dirt holding capacity than with surface filtration solutions.
* High filtration performance with minimal backflushing volumes.
* Strongly concentrated dirt discharge.
* Fine filter fineness.
* Low-wear system.
DSE 250 - a critical point in the treatment of coolant emulsions is the further processing of the sludge discharge or the backflushing volumes from automatic filters.
Up to now this task has been handled by expensive and inefficient systems such as bag filters or sedimentation basins, or, alternatively the backflushing volumes were directed back into the raw-medium tank which led to a build-up there of fine dirt.
Mann und Hummel offers the compact DSE 250 as an additional unit for automatic filters which in comparison to conventional solutions does the job more efficiently and with lower running costs.
The DSE 250 functions as a dehumidification unit.
It is a suitable addition for all automatic filters from Mann und Hummel or other filter suppliers.
In the DSE 250 dirt volumes coming from the filter are further separated, concentrated, dehumidified down to a residual moisture content of 25 per cent, and then ejected in a lump.
The liquid is then directed back into the system circuit.
The DSE 250 can be adapted to work with all Mann und Hummel automatic filters and almost all automatic filters supplied by other companies.
HydroFluid - the HydroFluid automatic filter is especially suitable for the filtration of liquids with an extremely high dirt content which require fine filtration (down to 10 microns).
The dynamic cleaning principle of the HydroFluid removes the need for backflushing or mechanical cleaning.
At the present time there is no other filter system available on the market which offers comparable efficiency and economy.
The ProFluid P, HydroFluid and DSE 250 complete the existing range of Mann und Hummel products for the treatment of coolant emulsions Mann und Hummel customers can choose between a wide range of filtration solutions employing different cleaning principles.
This is an advantage as there are many varied customer applications and not all requirements regarding service life can be solved by just one system with equal efficiency.
Each application has a different type of liquid, a different type of dirt to be filtered out, varying dirt levels, and individual requirements regarding filter fineness.
Mann und Hummel carries out an analysis of the customer application in question and then recommends the filtration solution with the most appropriate technical process and lowest running costs.
Manufacturers and users of machine tools demand custom-made solutions.
Mann und Hummel has an extensive range of filter systems and cleaning systems which enable the fine adjustment of the various parameters required to perfect the filtration solution for the respective customer application.
This is a fundamental difference between the filter specialist MANN+HUMMEL and other suppliers on the market.
Further filter systems offered by Mann und Hummel: * ProFluid: The combination of backflushing and mechanical scraping makes ProFluid an efficient filtration solution for liquids which are dirtied by particles of varying type, size, and geometry.
The mechanical scrapers are effective for the larger particles, the backflushing removes near-size particles which would otherwise block the gap tube.
ProFluid filters high and low viscosity media down to 30 microns.
AutoFluid: This system is based on the backflushing principle without the need for mechanical scrapers.
This enables the filtration of high and low viscosity media down to a filter fineness of 10 microns.
The filter is very low wear.
The elements have a high differential pressure stability which is especially advantageous for the filtration of media with a high viscosity.
Furthermore, Mann und Hummel offers other filter systems with mechanical cleaning such as gap-type tube filters, wire gap-type filters and plate gap-type filters in various sizes.
They are suitable for the filtration of very dirty high or low viscosity media.
