Injection moulders get process monitoring
Leading supplier of software tools for simulating plastic moulding processes, Moldflow, is expanding its remit into data collection, process control and monitoring.
Business executives can use the information for strategic planning and technology assessment, as well as to map existing production conditions.
The MMS 1.0 product modules include: * MMS/Process Setup - an intuitive and systematic method for establishing and documenting the combination of plastics injection moulding process parameters that produce high-quality moulded parts.
* MMS/Process Optimization - an automated design of experiments for determining a robust "good parts" plastics injection moulding processing window.

Predict, eliminate plastics manufacturing problems
Moldflow's MPI 3.0 i an integration of Moldflow and C-MOLD product development teams and the MPI and C-MOLD 2000 product families into one advanced injection moulding software suite.
* MMS/Process Control - a plastics injection moulding process control system designed to maintain optimum processing conditions.
* MMS/Production Scheduler - used for production scheduling of various mould/machine/material combinations.
* MMS/Production Manager - provides "at-a-glance" information on machine uptime/downtime, part counts, defect tracking and machine efficiencies.
* MMS/Operator Station - the "at-the-machine" interface for users to login, enter part defect and machine downtime causes and view job-specific information.
* MMS/Statistical Process Control - used to monitor the process and alarm or divert parts should process limits be violated.
• MMS/Statistical Quality Control - SQC data can be recorded and associated with shot-specific process data for correlation with SPC data.
* MMS/Process Analyzer - used to display and analyse real-time or historical process profiles.
* MMS/Production Reporting - used to communicate critical process and production data in near real-time so informed business decisions can be made.
MMS 1.0 can be installed on virtually any plastics injection moulding machine, and interfaces to more than 30 process controllers from leading plastics machinery manufacturers, including Arburg, Battenfeld, Billion, BMB, Demag Ergotech, Engel, Ferromatik Milacron, Italtech, Krauss-Maffei, Maicopresse, MIR, Netstal, Stork, Van Dorn Demag and UBE.
MMS 1.0 also supports metal diecasting machines from many leading equipment manufacturers, including Buhler, Frech, HPM, IdraPrince, Italpresse, Toshiba and UBE among others.
MMS 1.0 is available with English and French local language support and runs under the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system.
