supports CATIA V5
Moldflow Design Link (MDL) provides a geometry data translation interface between Moldflow's range of simulation products and leading CAD systems.
Moldflow Design Link (MDL) provides a geometry data translation interface between Moldflow's range of simulation products and leading CAD systems using standard file formats such as IGES, STEP, Parasolid and PTC's Pro/ENGINEER Now, newly released Version 4 (MDL 4.0) also supports Dassault Systemes' CATIA V5 part files, which are based on the Spatial 3D ACIS Interoperability kernel

This autumn at the K-2001 plastics technology exhibition, Moldflow will show its Plastics Insight software Version 3.0 for the first time.
Injection moulders get process monitoring
Leading supplier of software tools for simulating plastic moulding processes, Moldflow, is expanding its remit into data collection, process control and monitoring.
MDL/CATIA V5 can be used to import CAD model geometry directly into Moldflow 's part and mould design software, Moldflow Plastics Advisers (MPA) and Moldflow Plastics Insight (MPI), decreasing the amount of time required to prepare models for analysis.
Design engineer and early user Mike McCullough from OEM/Erie said: "We've seen a 10% time saving for importing and meshing files using MDL 4.0.
I can now save a CATIA file and read it right into Moldflow software." He continued: "Parts with living hinges, for instance, require very tight meshes in the hinge area.
Further, prior to using MDL 4.0, in order to perform local mesh refinement, I needed regions or surfaces.
The only way to achieve the meshing was to create regions from the meshed entities.
However, in doing so, I lost some of the geometry accuracy if the initial mesh was not dense enough.
Now, using MDL 4.0 surface capability, I can mesh and re-mesh the file as needed and not lose any geometry." Other MDL 4.0 enhancements include the ability for MPI users to specify a target mesh size for models that are meshed directly with MDL and support for Parasolid version 14.1 files.
MDL 4.0 supports MPI 4.0 Revision 1, MPI 4.1 and MPA 6.0 Revision 3 or higher.
