Busbar trunking systems are installed rapidly

Moeller Electric has added the new CD-K to its portfolio of highly flexible busbar trunking systems.
The new busbar is aimed at applications of 40A and below, making it ideal for lighting and low power applications.
Plug-in connectors ensure rapid installation and frequent tap-off points provide high flexibility even accommodating changes in power requirements after the initial installation without causing disruption.
Compliance with a host of safety standards makes it suitable for use in a wide range of environments.
The prime benefit of busbar trunking is the time savings it brings to installation.
Moeller has developed an installation time guide that quantifies the installation time for each piece of the busbar system.
Thus at the outset the customer can calculate how long, and in turn how much it will cost, to install a complete 'tailored' system.
For example, a 42m length of CD-K busbar trunking with a single junction unit, entry and end feeders and 8 tap-off plugs, complete with fuses, coding and fixing brackets would take less than 6 hours to install! Compare that with the time it takes to install a similar length run of cabling with power outlets.
The CD-K busbar system, which is compatible with Moeller's original CD range, consists of rectangular galvanised steel enclosures fitted with three to five conductors.
Three ratings are available 40A, 30A and 2 x 25A.
The basic trunking units are supplied in 2 or 3m lengths and have safety tap-off points spaced at either 1m or 0.5m apart.
Tap-off units need only be plugged into the busbar to enable power to be utilised.
The trunking units, feeder units and flanges push-fit onto one another, enabling rapid assembly without additional tools being required.
Only one bolt needs to be tightened at each connecting point to ensure a reliable electrical joint.
The tap-off plugs are now supplied pre-wired with flame retardant and halogen free cables in a selection of lengths, or without cable to give the installer greater flexibility.
The plugs are also available in fuseable or unfused and 3 or 5 pole configurations.
The user can assign the plug to any phase on the 3 pole versions.
The connected phase is visible externally for quick and easy identification.
The CD-K busbar system is designed for tough industrial environments and is damp and heat proofed to comply with IEC 60 068-2-3.
It also offers a high degree of protection conforming to IEC/EN60 529, IP54.
