Automation Tasks Made Easy In The QC Lab

A Metrohm UK product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team May 2, 2003

Automation in Titration now plays a vital and cost effective part in carrying out many titration tasks, saving chemists' time and reducing the need for personnel.

Automation now plays a vital and cost effective way of carrying out many titration tasks.

With the ever increasing work load that chemists face, and in many cases a reduction in personnel, one cannot afford to ignore the power and help that automation can bring to a business.

When should a sample changer system be used? For large numbers of samples.

When a high level of automation is required.

Where sample preparation must be rationalised.

Where there is no time for sample preparation.

Where the sample must be dissolved immediately before the titration, where the highest precision and reproducibility is demanded, lower cost analysis, greater sensitivity in the detection of end-points through mathematical evaluation, error-free documentation of analysis results on-line to LIMS systems, high sample throughput.

Reproducible results.

Operator requires no special knowledge.

Operational personnel are freed for the duration of the analysis.

Contact with toxic chemical is reduced to a minimum.

The system can operate seven days a week for twenty-four hours.

No matter how complex or easy the automation Metrohm can help.

For mundane tasks we recommend the flexible USB 814 Sample Processor in conjunction with our Titrando range of titrators.

This system boasts many features including;.

Rinsing and aspirating of sample.

Calibration and regeneration of electrodes.

Many standard and specially manufactured sample racks available.

If one requires more capacity then the USB robotic 815 XL Sample Processor (again in harmony with our Titrando range of titrators) offers this.

Of course a twin head option is available.

This is particularly useful when one may have aqueous and non-aqueous titrations to perform, or conductivity and pH measurements on the same sample.

With a maximum of 999 positions available there has never been a more flexible solution.

Both sample processor systems are controlled through our Titrando software be it Touch screen or PC control.

Software control for high performance combined titration systems Together with Metrohm's Titrando 835 or/and 836, allows the creation of extension possibilities which even the most expensive titrators cannot achieve and of course it is CFR 21 Part 11 compliant. The operation of the system is childishly easy.

Depending on the task and program, the following can be controlled:- Simultaneous control and monitoring, on the PC/Touch screen, of titration sequences from several Titrandos.

Use of "Intelligent dosing units" with plausibility function.

Editing, storage and recall of methods.

Recalculation of results by re-evaluating with modified parameters without repeating the determination.

Demanding operations with a sample changer performed fully automatically, 24hrs a day 7 days a week.

ISE measurement and titration on the same sample using the same instrument.

Link to LIMS or server based systems.
