Low Ionic Strength pH Measurement

A Metrohm UK product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Oct 17, 2003

Metrohm's new 6.0257.000 Aquatrode plus is specifically designed for the pH assessment of low conductivity waters, making it suitable for a variety of environmental applications.

Measuring pH in low ionic strength media, such as acid rain, river and lake waters has always posed problems.

These include lengthy times for pH equilibration (sometimes as long as 5 minutes), diaphragm blockages due to silver chloride leaching out of the electrode, or the necessity to add a salt to the water in order to speed up response times (this can effect the original pH).

Metrohm have recently launched the NEW Aquatrode plus, designed specifically for low conductivity waters.

The devise has a unique leaching sleeve diaphragm, which allows quick response yet virtually no leaching of electrolyte~ ensuring that quick and accurate responses are yielded.

The Aquatrode plus has internal shielding to reduce noise which could otherwise threaten the stability of the signal from the electrode.
