Determination of trace water in
petrochemicals

Metrohm UK has introduced the 831 KF Coulometer from Karl Fischer, which provides economical determination of trace amounts of water in petrochemicals.

Metrohm UK has introduced the affordable 831 KF Coulometer from Karl Fischer which determines traces of water in petrochemicals with great accuracy Other features are its compact design, flexibility, and easy operation

On the backlit LCD screen, it is possible to graphically follow the course of the water determination (eg water as a function of time).

In addition, the curves voltage vs time and drift vs time can be printed out or viewed on a PC screen.

These features allow you to assess the determination and assist in method development.

The 831 KF Coulometer is ideal for routine operations.

Even with its extensive capabilities, it is easy to operate.

At your disposal are an expert mode as well as a standard mode.

The expert mode allows the use of all the features of this high-tech device.

In the standard mode, only functions needed in routine work are accessible; operation in this mode is simple and requires very few keystrokes.

Connecting 700 DosinoR to the 831 KF Coulometer allows you to siphon off the contents of the coulometric cell and fill it with fresh reagent.

As the KF vessel remains closed, no humidity can enter the system.

Within a minimum of time, the analysis cell is again conditioned.

The coulometric cell without diaphragm works with only one reagent and is insensitive to interferences.

However, as not all applications can be solved with this cell, Metrohm also offers a cell with diaphragm.

The 831 KF Coulometer stores up to 100 different methods in its internal memory; these methods can easily be transferred to and reloaded via the RS-232C interface from a PC.

Use of a KF Oven is recommended for samples that cannot be introduced directly into the KF cell.

The 832 KF Oven can be used if only a few samples need to be processed.

However, the 774 Oven Sample Processor is the ideal solution for analysis of a large number of samples.

When combined with the 831 KF Coulometer, this sophisticated sample changer allows fully automated water determinations in up to 35 samples.

The analysis system can be operated as a stand-alone unit, or it can be completely controlled by Metrohm titration software.

The 831 KF Coulometer allows the complete and clear documentation of all determinations performed.

The result output complies with GLP and includes the designation and the serial number of the instrument, software version, date, user name, and method used.

GLP and ISO 9000 functions, such as service or validation intervals, alert you in time for the necessary tests.

The KF reagent can be monitored with regard to the number of determinations carried out, its useful life span, drift value, or capacity.

Whenever the reagent has to be exchanged, the corresponding request is issued automatically.

To avoid potential errors, you can also set limits for the sample weight or volume and for the result.

If one of these quantities lies outside the set limits, the corresponding warning message appears in the display and report, and the remote interface emits a signal.

The 831 KF Coulometer puts at your disposal a special GLP mode that facilitates the periodic testing of the instrument: Simply call up this mode and carry out the validation according to Metrohm Application Bulletin number 273. Request a free brochure from Metrohm UK ...
