Employing 20 people, managing director of Mollart-Cox John Cox saw his operations break the GBP 1 million turnover barrier during 1999 and TM Steels achieved a 30% growth in only its second year of trading under managing director Ed Tasker.
The two joint venture Mollart businesses were originally set up to service the North of England and especially the large bore requirements of the oil and gas industries.
However, such has been the support offered, that a wide range of industries seeking a cost-effective, high quality sub-contract machining, deep hole production service and material supply service have begun to use the companies.
As part of the expansion, some GBP 36,000 has been invested in an Amada saw to expand its 'saw and turn' service.
Under this scheme, to ensure a quality component, Mollart-Cox can provide cutting-off, first stage turning and deep hole machining up to 150mm diameter by 3000mm deep.
In addition, a further investment of GBP 175,000 has been made in equipment for ultrasonic detection of porosity in steel to help ensure specific quality requirements on machined components.
