SERCOS (fibre-optic) command interface provides such good signal integrity such that even with the connector pulled out the light coupled digital command signals continue to work.

Micromech is pleased to introduce the SERCOS (fibre-optic) MC206 command interface from Trio Motion Technology that provides such good signal integrity, even with the connector pulled out the light coupled digital command signals continue to work.

This powerful interface can therefore be used to command a mixture of stepper drives, servo drives and inverters all via the same SERCOS fibre-optic control line.

This means Micromech can now offer mixed drive technology capability from any manufacturer, all from one SERCOS master control.

The MC206 is based on a high-performance 32-bit DSP technology and provides up to 5 axes of servo or stepper control, plus a master encoder input.

Using advanced FPGA techniques to reduce the size and fit 4 axes of stepper and servo circuitry in a compact DIN-rail mounted package.

An expansion connector is fitted to add a fifth axis or any other standard daughter option board.

User programmes are written in our established multi-tasking BASIC language using the powerful Motion Perfect development software.

Complex motion such as cams, gears, linked axes, and interpolation is made easy with the comprehensive BASIC command set.

It has 16 opto-isolated digital I/O (8 in, 8 bi-directional) and a high-speed hardware registration input is available on each axis for highly accurate control of print and packaging lines.

The I/O count can be expanded using Trio CANbus digital and analogue modules.

The MC206 offers wide communications capability with two RS-232 serial ports, an RS-485 port, a TTL serial port, a USB port and a CAN channel as standard.

Adapters are available to convert the TTL port to Trio's fibre-optic network.

A memory stick used with this interface allows a simple means of transferring programs without a PC connection offering the OEM easy machine replication and servicing.

The absence of galvanically connected command signal grounds together with the optical rugged signal integrity makes the MC206 a most reliable solution for any designer.
