Accurate pharmaceutical robotic
dispensing system
Spyraflo bearings have contributed to the design of Micromech's lastest pharmaceutical robotic dispensing system, providing a fast, compact and quiet machine.
Micrmech's lastest dispensing machine sought to be the fastest, most productive and accurate retail robotic dispensing system in the World The RDS (Robotic Dispensing System) was developed to automate dispensing pharmaceutical transactions with 100 percent accuracy at the rate of 150 plus transactions per hour as the benchmark set for the industry

Micromech appointed systems integrator for robots
Motoman Robotics (UK), Banbury, has appointed specialist motion control system builder, Micromech, based in Braintree, Essex, as systems integrator for articulated-arm robots.
The challenge facing the designers was to develop a unit which was operationally fast and compact but with a very high capacity.
Equally important was to satisfy the 'public locations' of such equipment that clearly needed to be quiet, they had to be reliable while satisfying the obvious demand that the machine would bring substantial gains in productivity.
Many alternative solutions of standard bearings from other manufacturers, that could meet the base specifications were considered, but all of them failed in three crucial areas.
First was compactness, the unique Spyraflo bearing is a real space saver and second was their cost effectiveness due to the patented Self- Clinching capability, saving on machining and components.
The third and another major reason for selection was the Self-Aligning feature of the 6mm and 12mm Delrin flange-mount bearings that economically contributed perfectly to their needs.
The machine has met all its designers objectives and now this highly successful RDS can handle up to 65 percent of a pharmacy's total prescription volume with a process that selects and labels a vial, then counts, caps and sorts a script by patient last name.
In addition to the wide range of standard flange-mount designs available Spyraflo have produced many special flange design solutions for a wide cross-section of industries and applications.
The many designs incorporate various flange materials, flange profiles, mounting variables and positioning features.
Also, Spyraflo Engineers incorporate the unique Self-Clinching, Self-Aligning bearing features into meeting many special designs.
