Morgan Construction Company has signed a contract with Arcelor Alambron Zumarraga, of Zumarraga, Spain, for an upgrade to its two-strand rod mill.

According to Mark Shore, vice president, Rolling Mill Sales and Proposals, "The order is for six no-housing roughing mill stands, which will replace the existing roughing mill.

The new equipment is part of a phased upgrade plan to increase production and reduce maintenance." He added, "Morgan will also modify the existing laying head with the latest segmented type deflector plate for improved ring pattern and tail-end ring shape at high speed.

In addition, the contract calls for new traversing water boxes and an upgrade to the Stelmor cooling system to increase the mill's cooling capacity.".
