Copper mill goes ahead in Abu Dhabi

Emirates International Investment of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has ordered a single-strand copper rod system from Southwire Company of Carrollton, Ga.

Emirates International Investment of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has ordered a single-strand copper rod system from Southwire Company of Carrollton, Ga., and Morgan Construction, which will supply the rolling mill.

In announcing the contract, John T.

Buell, manager of Non-Ferrous Sales, said, "Morgan will engineer and supply all of the rolling mill equipment for an SCR 4500 copper system that is being built for E.I.I.C.

by our alliance partner, Southwire Company of Carrollton, GA." Under the terms of contract, Morgan will supply an entry shear, a 16-inch stand, two 12-inch stands, an intermediate shear, an 8-stand finishing mill; pickling line; a pinch roll; a coiler; and a seven (7)-station conveyor.

The mill is designed to roll 35 metric tonnes per hour.

Buell added that the mill is scheduled to be shipped by September, 2006.

Morgan and Southwire have worked together for more than 30 years.

During that time, Morgan has built more than 60 non-ferrous mills for Southwire customers, in addition to completing 25 to 30 upgrades.
