Steel wire rolling line to raise Polish output
The addition of a new wire rolling line to an existing Polish bar and wire rod mill will output wire from 5mm to 25mm in diameter at up to 150 tonnes/h or 110m/s.
Morgan Construction Company will build and install a new wire rolling line to an existing bar and wire rod mill for CMC Zawiercie, the Polish subsidiary of US company Commercial Metals Company.
The two companies signed the agreement in late December.
The long product mill is located in Zawiercie, Poland.
The new wire rod block and reducing sizing mill will increase the company's production of wire rods.
The line will consist of a four-stand reducing sizing mill and ten-stand wire rod block capable of producing product from 5mm to 25mm in diameter at up to 150 tonnes/h or 110m/s.
Installation should take approximately eighteen months.
"We are pleased that CMC Zawiercie recognized the value that Morgan's latest rolling technology can bring to their production line," said T Michael Shore, vice president, Engineering Rolling Mill Technology.
The new line should increase rolling capacity by approximately 100,000 tonnes/year.
The rod block will produce coil sizes up to three tonnes.
"Markets reward those companies that can respond with flexibility and new products.
These enhancements will strengthen CMC Zawiercie's ability to use its existing mill more effectively and broaden its product line with higher grade rods," Shore continued.
CMC Zawiercie is the second largest steel producer in Poland.
Commercial Metals Company and subsidiaries manufacture, recycle and market steel and metal products, related materials and services through a network including steel minimills, steel fabrication and processing plants, construction-related product warehouses, a copper tube mill, metal recycling facilities and marketing and distribution offices in the United States and in strategic overseas markets.
Morgan Construction Company is a designer and producer of high-quality rolling mill products and services for the metals industry worldwide.
