Five different types of end milling cutters, with which all possible diameters are covered, are designed for high performance cutting in the widest range of applications.

Whether for milling intricate contours from plastics in mould making or large volume cutting of integral aluminium components in the aircraft industry, the new Mapal PCD end mills from the HP EndMill series are designed for high performance cutting in the widest range of applications The aim of the development with this new, heavy duty series was to produce an easy-to-use and clearly structured milling programme

The Mapal WWS end mill programme consists of five different types of milling cutters with which all possible diameters are covered.

Whether for milling deep pockets or machining high journals, the right milling cutter can be supplied for any machining operation.

The new product group starts with the smallest PCD end mill, known as type 50.

With diameters of 4 and 5mm and a PCD blade operating over the centre, for example, it is designed for use in precision mechanics or manufacturing printed circuit boards.

Even more diverse are the opportunities for using types 51 and 52.

These versions have two blades which lie opposite one another.

With this one blade moves out over the centre of the milling cutter which allows axial penetration into the workpiece.

By arranging the blades like this additional savings can be made in machining time.

The high flexibility of these tools is particularly demonstrated by type 51.

Here it is possible to vary the blade length by up to 10mm according to the diameter.

As a standard feature, however, the axial angle can also be selected as positive, neutral or negative.

Because of its blade geometry which is designed as full radius, the HP EndMill type 52 is the milling cutter best suited for tool and mould making.

Running with above-average quietness and achieving excellent surface finish results, the cost of reworking is reduced many times over.

Maximum removal rates and longest chip-to-chip times are obtained with the high performance end mills in this product portfolio.

With HP EndMill types 53 and 57, because of the low cutting forces from the PCD blades in comparison to solid carbide tools, teeth feeds and settings can be applied which meet the performance limits of modern machining centres.

Type 53 covers diameter ranges from 6-20mm and is basically designed with internal coolant.

Whether with two or three blades, machining closed pockets is carried out by these milling cutters by actually penetrating the workpieces.

This is possible without centre blade and feed reduction because the blade edges are positioned in the axial direction protruding a few millimeters over the tool body.

The end mill programme is rounded off by HP EndMill type 57 which is different in construction to the rest of the standard programme.

Intended for high volume cutting, for example on integral components, this milling cutter achieves maximum removal rates.

The number of spirally arranged blades varies from between 3 and 4, according to the diameter (16-63mm).

In addition the high cutting values required for large scale cutting are achieved because maximum cutting lengths of 40mm are produced through the arrangement of up to three PCD blanks behind one another.

Especially with type 57, Mapal WWS also offers the appropriate customer service for a reliable and economic tool supply.

With this a tool is provided as new at the 'withdrawal price' - which is a sort of charge for use.

The application opportunities with the new Mapal WWS end mills can be effected for all current non-ferrous metals (such as copper for example).

For solving specific customer requirements the Mapal WWS high performance end mills are of course also produced to special designs.
