Replica laser CMM has high scanning
speed
Replica laser scanning CMM meets the growing demand for a competitive reverse engineering solution that offers high scanning speed and data capture together with CMM performance.
Metris will launch the new Replica laser scanning co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) at the Westec show (Los Angeles, USA, March 27-30) Based on the LK Ascent CMM, the Replica features the Metris LC50 line scanner and has been introduced to meet the growing demand for a competitive reverse engineering solution that offers high scanning speed and data capture together with CMM performance and reliability

Using a Metris Modelmaker D scanner for non-contact 3D measurement of large vehicle parts, a French automotive plant has quadrupled its scanning productivity.
The Replica is the first integrated solution offered by Metris since the acquisition of CMM manufacturer, LK, in January of this year.
The Replica is currently the subject of a major launch promotion at $99,500 (this price is USA only).
With the use of the LC50 line scanner, the fully CNC Replica solution delivers a scan speed of 19200 pts/sec.

With the inclusion of Focus Reverse Engineering software, the Replica represents a powerful alternative to touch trigger analogue scanning for gathering a high volume of component data required to make precise reverse engineering designs.
Focus Reverse Engineering suite gives designers the freedom to evaluate and modify their models at any stage with a choice of polygons, curves or surfaces.
This functionality is particularly important in design for manufacture and polygon-based modeling applications and also has broader uses in rapid prototyping, FEA and CFD preparation, and digital archiving.
As an option, it is also possible to upgrade to the new version of Focus Inspection, the Metris workflow software for full part to CAD and feature comparison between pointclouds and CAD models.
With the launch of the Replica, Metris is introducing laser scanning solutions to a much wider range of customers.
Traditionally seen as the domain of the large engineering OEM's, this new CMM has been introduced to place a flexibile, reliable and competitive laser scanning solution within the reach of all companies looking to move beyond their current capability and really push the boundaries of engineering to the limits.
