Scan Planner reduces part programming
time

With Scan 4.1 Planner from Metris user can now create, modify and prove out part programs using only 3D CAD models instead of using the actual CMM hardware and waiting for real parts.

Metris has launched Scan 4.1 Planner, an offline module of the Scan 4.1 software The user can now create, modify and prove out part programs using only 3D CAD models instead of using the actual CMM hardware and waiting for real parts

The Planner module offers the same user interface as the Metris Scan online version facilitating the job for CMM operators.

The premiere of the software is scheduled for the Euromold show in Frankfurt, Germany from 1st to 4th December.

Metris Scan Planner acts as a virtual coordinate measuring machine (CMM) that enables scan path programming to take place exactly as if the operator is sitting in front of a real CMM.

As programs are created and edited, users visualize the scanning probe, part and scanning paths in real-time 3-D graphics.

The software is able to import meshed or CAD models.

Inspection departments that use Metris Scan Planner drastically improve their machine efficiency.

Before, test objects for inspection had to wait in line for several hours behind other parts.

Not until it finally reached the head of the line a programmer could start to program the part specifications into the CMM.

Using Metris Scan Planner, you can start programming a part long before the part is positioned on the CMM or even exists.

Also small variations of path programs can be easily prepared beforehand. Request a free brochure from Metris ...

This ability can increase measurement capacity and throughput rates, which can help maximize a company's return on investment.
