Metris is holding a workshop on the Dimensional Measuring Interface Standard (DMIS 5.0) with an introduction to the new I++ DME specification.

Reviews of the new DMIS training workshop from Metris have described it as a highly successful training program.

The workshop focuses on the programming as well as the implementation of the Dimensional Measuring Interface Standard (DMIS 5.0) with an introduction to the new I++ DME specification.

The next Workshop is scheduled for May 14 - 17, 2007, at the Brighton, Michigan facility of Metris.

This hands-on Workshop is designed for CMM technicians, Metrology Specialists, and Quality Engineers who need to better understand the role of standards in the ever-changing world of dimensional metrology.

This DMIS / I++DME Workshop will encompass the new features and capabilities of the latest DMIS Standard (version 5.0) the most widely used metrology interface standard in the world, along with how the I++DME specification fits into the overall picture.

The three day Training Workshop (from 1:00 PM Monday to Thursday noon, or 24 class hours) will encompass the functions of the DMIS 5.0 Standard as well as those of the new I++DME specification.

The structure of the DMIS language, how it functions alone, and with the I++ DME specification will be examined allowing participants to understand the syntax and measurement options.

Once a series of commands is understood, sample programs will be generated to demonstrate their function using either a simulated CMM environment or live demonstrations on a CMM.

The "Labs" are the special emphasis of the Workshop, and offer excellent learning opportunities.

The basic topics of discussion will include: a brief history and current status of the "living DMIS language"; interface technologies of I++DME; utilisation of probing technology; establishing alignments; feature measurements and reporting / tolerancing.

To view the Workshop Syllabus, visit the DMIS website.

Classes will be held at the Metris (LK Metrology facility), located at 12701 Grand River Road, Brighton, Michigan.

The class sessions are scheduled as follows: Monday, May 14, 1:00 PM- 5:00 PM Tuesday, May 15, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Lunch provided) Wednesday, May 16, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Lunch provided) Thursday, May 17, 8:00 AM - 12:00 Noon For information concerning registration fees, materials provided, cancellation policy, and to register for this Workshop, visit the website notice given above.
