M-real Simpele is one of M-real Consumer Packaging's core production assets and will, as a result of the investment, retain its position as one of the most cost competitive and efficient production units in Europe added the company.
The improvements will include a new reeler, a rewinder as well as reel and sheet packaging equipment.
Sheeting capacity will also increase, resulting in better product availability.
The total capacity of the board machine will increase by 45,000 tonnes per annum to 215,000 tonnes.
The machine will be upgraded in stages with only one shut-down.
The start up will take place in spring 2006.
After the upgrade, the quality of the fully coated Simcote and Simwhite folding boxboards will be enhanced believes the company.
The visual appearance, stiffness and bulk of the product will improve.
The upgraded products will offer the customers improved printing surface and consistency, resulting in better runability, convertability and overall efficiency believes the company.
