Achieving higher strength threads at lower cost than conventional cutting or chasing operations, Winter thread rolling attachments provide an extremely cost-effective method of producing straight or tapered screw profiles in a wide variety of materials, including steel, aluminium, brass and stainless steel.
Units will produce thread forms up to M56 x 3.0 and are available for all popular manual, multi-spindle and CNC lathe types, including Brown and Sharpe, Davenport, Gildemeister, Hardinge, Pittler, Traub and Wickman.
They are easily mounted on the machine's cross-slide and simply require a standard compressed air supply to achieve fast and accurate results.
In operation, the system's radial infeed, pinch type configuration eliminates side pressure on the workpiece.
This allows thread rolling away from the collet and permits high length-to-diameter rolling operations.
It also ensures thread concentricity and minimises machine spindle load and wear.
Fast and easy to install, Winter thread rollers enable feed rates and pitch diameter to be adjusted in-cycle - to within 0.005mm - for maximum productivity and precision.
All models feature a patented roll compensator, which not only safeguards correct synchronisation and simplifies timing of the rolls, but also allows adjustments to be made without gearset disassembly.
Unlike competitive products, Winter thread rolling attachments utilise a single operating cam for all thread sizes.
As a result, change-overs can be achieved rapidly and effectively through simple replacement of the quick release, hardened thread rolls.
Availability of the new thread rolling equipment from Holmes is backed by full product selection and after sales support, as well as off-the-shelf availability of standard thread rolls, Davenport toolholders, reversible tool slides and consumables for all common thread types.
