Matrox Design Assistant is the latest flowchart-based software package to allow the ris E-Series smart camera to be used in a wider range of industrial applications.

Matrox Imaging has introduced its latest version of the intuitive, flowchart-based software package for the Matrox Iris E-Series smart camera.

Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 enables users to produce applications flowcharts with the following steps.

* Image processing (arithmetic, filtering, geometric transformations, logic, LUT mapping, morphology, thresholding, etc).

* Blob analysis.

* Pattern recognition based on normalised grayscale correlation.

* Reading character strings.

In conjunction with the steps available in version 1.0 (CodeReader, Edge Locator, IntesityChecker, Metrology and ModelFinder), Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 offers all required vision tools for most applications.

Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 now also supports both Ethernet/IP and Modbus over TCP/IP to interact with PLCs and other process automation equipment.

Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 also includes an SDK that allows users to add specific custom functionality.

Product manager at Matrox Imaging, Fabio Perelli, said: "With more image processing and analysis tools, the Matrox Iris E-Series smart camera can be deployed in an even greater number of applications, in almost any industry".

* About Matrox Design Assistant - the Matrox Design Assistant interface draws on Matrox Imaging's two-decade history of imaging software experience.

In the Matrox Design Assistant environment, users create a flowchart of the application that instructs the Matrox Iris E-Series camera to capture, process, analyse, and display image data.

The intuitive nature of the Matrox Iris E-Series with Design Assistant eliminates the need for programming and scripting.

Users benefit from simplified application development that offers the same reliability and robustness as the field-proven Matrox Imaging Library.

The development environment is fully self-contained for both application development and deployment, and the integrated HTML editor and layout tool gives users the flexibility to create a custom Web-based operator view for monitoring the application.

* About Matrox Iris - the Matrox Iris E-Series is a family of smart cameras that support the flexibility of PC-based machine vision systems, and feature hardware for image sensing as well as software for image capture, processing, and analysis.

Matrox Iris E-Series is powered by an Ultra Low Power (ULP) Celeron, an embedded Intel architecture processor, and runs the Windows CE real-time operating system.

Available as a single body or remote head plus processor design, Matrox Iris E-Series smart cameras offer customers a number of options for camera resolution, sensor type, and speed.
