Power drill that can be used on a variety of materials combines 3/8in and 1/2in drilling in one tool by incorporating a 2-speed gearbox along with variable speed.

Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has introduced a new drill that combines 3/8in and 1/2in drilling in one tool by incorporating a 2-speed gearbox along with variable speed.

The new BE710 drill is ideal for applications where a universal tool is required to drill both large and small holes, such as in joining, fitting, HVAC installation, and carpentry applications.

The new combination drill can be used on a wide range of materials, including hard and soft wood, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, Plexiglas, fiberglass, and composite materials.

The new BE710 has a reversing feature that provides full torque in reverse.

The reversing switch is conveniently positioned, so it is equally accessible to both right and left handed operators.

Metabo's S-automatic safety clutch restricts the reverse torque in the event of a bit jam, stopping the tool's motor and protecting both the drill and the operator.

Variospeed full wave electronic speed control enables the drill's speed to be infinitely varied from the lowest to highest speed value.

Since the speed reduces with the increasing load, the lower the selected speed, the quicker the tool will come to a stop.

The BE710 also features Metabo's exclusive winding protection grid that increases motor life by up to five times in dirty environment, by deflecting airborne debris away from the armature windings.

A die cast aluminum housing, which dissipates heat generated during operation, and auto-stop carbon brushes that turn off the motor before the brushes are completely worn out, also help to extend the new drill's service life.

Maximum tightening torque of the BE710 is 142 in-lb.

Drilling capacity in mild steel is 1/2in and 1-9/16in in softwood.

No-load speed is 0-1,000/0-3,000 and rated input is 710W.

The tool features a 5.8A motor and weighs only 6.5 lb.

A 1/2in geared chuck, chuck key, clamping bushing, and side handle come standard, and an optional carrying case is available.
