The Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) has just completed its trends survey for the 2nd quarter of 2004 and the results have been made available to members who participated The highlights include: * The percentage balance for business confidence in the 2nd quarter was +42%
Although this is a decline from the +52% in the 1st quarter of the year, it is above the levels seen throughout 2003.
* Order intake was 6% higher than in the 1st quarter of the year, with an increase of 1% predicted for the 3rd quarter - this is traditionally affected by the holiday season and this year looks to be no different.
* The machinery manufacturers reported problems with raw materials and skilled labour, while supply was an issue for the machinery importers along with the traditional complaint of a lack of orders.
