Stand bookings for Metalworking 2002 roll in
Exhibitor space sales for Metalworking 2002 are rising steadily as companies return contracts for their stands.
Keith Rook, European Sales Manager, from Omax, manufacturer of high precision waterjet machining centres reported last week: "As well as selling an Omax 2626 machine, I think our most memorable orders that came out of MACH 2004 have been the sale of a 2652 machine for Iceland, which was purchased through our English distributor Aquajet Holdings and a 2652 machine complete with Tilt-A-Jet for Switzerland, which was ordered through our German distributor Innomax.
The customers from Iceland and Switzerland visited MACH 2004 specifically to look at the 2626 machine with Tilt-A-Jet that we had on our stand, and also took a comparative look at machines our competitors had on display.
We followed up both these enquiries and made samples for the clients and subsequently received and shipped both these orders." Tony Mercer, Director of Atkin EDM Machine Tools, providers of precision EDM products and services, including spark and wire erosion machines and mould repair welders, was equally as positive, saying: "Since MACH, we have taken another order as a direct result of being at the show and have plenty of other quotations with prospective customers.

Rob Passow, Business Development Manager at Hydrafeed commented: "Hydrafeed had an excellent week during which they received numerous orders and enquiries, with the first official order being received within an hour of the show opening on Monday.

As well as securing these orders, we also met representatives from various international OEMs from Denmark, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Africa, and Australia - all keen on using the UK firm's products in their respective countries.

GB, supplier of universal clamping tools, also said: "[MACH 2004] resulted in us taking over 200 names from over 100 companies.
A good percentage of leads were from companies that we already dealt with, however, some new accounts have since been opened as a result of this exhibition - orders to date have more than covered the outlay we made and there is still business to come in." Steve Gee, General Manager of Close Asset Finance, providers of specialist finance solutions and advice for the engineering industry was also glad that they had exhibited, saying: "To give you an overview, we wrote approx GBP 1.75m of business at the show.
Since the show, business written has increased to approx.
GBP 3.5m and we still have many enquiries pending." Spanish company DENN, manufacturer of spinning and flow-forming lathes, also reports a good show.
Their Export Manager, Xavier Medan, commented: "The MACH 2004 exhibition, where we were exhibiting two metal forming machines, was an excellent show for us.
It was also very helpful that we sold two brand new machines.
In total nearly 300.000 GBP.
We will also be exhibiting at MACH 2006, for sure." MTA Exhibition Manager, Graham Shearsmith, commented: "The comments that we have received from exhibitors over the last week prove that MACH is the outstanding showcase event in the UK, which attracts the decision-makers from within industry who are there to compare new equipment, and will either purchase while they are at the show or in the months to come.
No other UK based event can provide exhibitors with this kind of exposure.".
