MTA member Coventry Toolholders saw rapid results from the MTA's recent seminar mission to Russia when its Centreline Division won an order for GBP 26,000 for 10 Angle heads just two months later Rob Gordon, Coventry Toolholders managing director, said: "This is a very promising start for us in a market that we have long seen as of great potential but one that posed some major logistical and language challenges for us to overcome

Dr John Collins, business development manager at the MTA, undertook to present our company and its products on our behalf.

The Centreline range of standard and bespoke Angle head and Speeder products and solutions are particularly ideal to assist machine tool users in Russia to achieve significant performance enhancement to their ageing machine tool base without the need to replace them.

Without the MTA's support on this we may not have been able to break into the Russian market for some time and would certainly not have received such a key order." The MTA organise and run several UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) supported seminar missions each year, often to regions which are emerging in the global manufacturing marketplace.

Seminars are an ideal showcase where MTA member companies can demonstrate their international competitiveness and excellence in engineering and innovation.

Over the coming year a dozen seminar missions are planned to emerging markets such as China, Russia, Turkey, Romania, The Baltic States, Malaysia and Thailand.

The MTA already has an advantage in our attack on the growing markets of China and Russia - both regions using the expertise in the marketplace of the MTA China office in Beijing and MTA Russia office in Ekaterinburg.

Wherever possible the MTA use the local knowledge of the marketplace through close links with the local British Consulate UKTI trade advisers and regional representatives.

For further information about forthcoming trade missions organised by the MTA please contact Dr John Collins at the MTA.

Seminar missions are open to non-members of the MTA, but MTA members receive preferential rates.
