3 - The outlook for the 3rd quarter is mixed and, with the Machinery Manufacturers' Section expecting a significant drop in orders compared to the 2nd quarter (led down by export demand which is not unusual in the summer period), the overall trend identified by the respondents is for a -1.1% fall in order intake compared to the 2nd quarter.
MTA director general, Andrew Manly commented: "This was another good quarter for the industry and, although the outlook for the next period is weaker, this is mainly due to seasonal factors and only really represents a not unexpected pause in the growth trend over the summer months.".
