MACH 2008 records 21% visitors increase
Compared with the last MACH event in 2006, the UK's MTA said that the MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition welcomed 21% more visitors and one exhibitor took orders for GBP 10 million.
The organiser of the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition held last week, Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) said that the UK's national media talk of an economic downturn and the credit crunch had not deterred visitors The MTA said that vistors appeared 'in their thousands' to see the latest innovations in manufacturing technology

In the three months since the ballot for space held in February, MACH 2002 is already 95% subscribed, with 294 confirmed exhibitors having contracted space totalling 25,830
Over 27,000 people attended, showing few economic woes.
MACH 2008, exhibition manager, the MTA's Graham Shearsmith said that MACH 2008 was incredibly positive for the industry.
He added: "MACH is certainly bucking the trend, we had visitor numbers of over 27,000 which is 21% higher than 2006.
In addition there have been some massive orders at the show - one exhibitor took an order for GBP 10 million and there were plenty of examples of large orders throughout the week".
Shearsmith continued: "We hosted almost 500 exhibitors and around half were showing new products or services.
As the show closed on Friday there was a definite 'buzz' around the exhibition halls".
The MTA said visitor numbers to MACH 2008 and general feedback on sales at the show would suggest a positive outlook for the industry.
