The Manufacturing Institute, a non-profit making organisation driven by manufacturers for manufacturers, is to deploy Epicor for Service Enterprises software.
The Diploma in Manufacturing equips managers, supervisors and team leaders with the skills to plan and implement improved manufacturing performance within their companies.
Previous successful diploma holders have come from leading companies in the region - including Airbus, Siemens and Astra Zeneca - as well as smaller concerns such as Flowcrete, Innovative Technologies and CHK Engineering who have reaped the benefits of developing well-rounded manufacturing champions on their team.
Funding to help meet the fees of the course, which starts in October, has come through GBP 140,000 from Manchester Enterprises, specifically for manufacturing companies based in Trafford Park and another GBP 50,000 from the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
Dr Julie Madigan, Chief Executive of The Manufacturing Institute, commented: "The Diploma has a proven track record of improving profitability and efficiency.
The funding will be a great incentive for companies to take advantage of the course, knowing that the students will bring their knowledge and skills back into the workplace." Senior industrial practitioners and academic experts from eight of the top UK universities and 20 manufacturing organisations deliver the two-year course.
It is an open-entry programme, expressly aimed at personnel who may have few formal qualifications and several years of practical manufacturing experience.
