Encouraging manufacturers to apply lean thinking
For manufacturers seeking to find new ways to boost shop floor performance, improve productivity and reduce costs, the Accelerated Route to Lean Manufacturing programme brings real results fast.
The Institute formed its PIP team in 2002, when it began delivering the government-funded Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) in the North West.
During that time, its practitioners have helped manufacturers across the region amass more than GBP 25 million in cost savings - an average added value of almost GBP 250,000 to every company assisted.
Mike Price, the Manchester-based Institute's director of operations, said: "This is a major expansion of our core team capability.
The 17-strong practitioner team can now offer additional expertise for manufacturers requiring technical skills including supply chain, six sigma, product development and systems.
"These appointments are an essential feature of our 'Agenda for Change' action programme that will boost productivity in the North West by ?67m in the next five years.".
