The Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) in the North West has appointed four more process improvement practitioners to broaden the support and expertise provided to manufacturers across the region The new appointments have expanded the master practitioner team to 20 practitioners who are now helping manufacturers of all sizes and sectors to increase their bottom-line performance

The Manufacturing Institute set up this team in 2002, when it first began to deliver the DTI-funded MAS in the North West.

The four new team members are Jim Dowell, a former manufacturing engineering manager with Transbus International; Julian Winn, previously senior program manager with Celestica; Paul Monaghan, who was a senior consultant with the Cranfield Manufacturing Business Consultancy; and Graham Canning, formerly production group leader with Toyota Motor Manufacturing.

Mike Price, who heads up operations for MAS in the North West commented: "We are delighted to welcome them to the team.

Each of the new process improvement practitioners has extensive manufacturing knowledge and their expertise will undoubtedly prove very valuable to manufacturers across the region.

"In the last two and half years the team has helped manufacturers in the North West to generate productivity improvements worth more than GBP 35 million, at an average of GBP 146,000 per company project.

We are well set to add to this total significantly in the coming months.".
