Lean manufacturing seminar shows the way
A two-day North West masterclass later this month will show how lean techniques boost productivity.
It will highlight the importance of value management tools and techniques that can typically drive up to 25% cost out of product manufacture.
Examining the winning methods used by global leaders like Ford, General Motors, IBM, Dell, Whirlpool and Texas Instruments, delegates will learn how to squeeze out cost by applying joined-up lean practice to the design and manufacture of new and existing products.
Says Mark Stone, head of the Innovation and Investment team at the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) North West, which is delivered by The Manufacturing Institute: "Many companies are squeezing waste out of their processes, but fewer are scrutinising the waste in their products".
"Our Masterclass will demonstrate how to drive up to a quarter of the cost out of products without any loss of function, quality or reliability." Thanks to support from the MAS North West, subsidised places at the Masterclass are available to North West manufacturers.
