Multisorb introduces new Simulsorb service

A Multisorb Technologies product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Mar 1, 2007

Multisorb Technologies will introduce its new SimulSorb service to North America at Interphex 2007, April 24-26 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York

The simulations that comprise SimulSorb enable Multisorb's technical experts to determine the ideal amount of sorbent required to combat chemical and physical degradation of sensitive drug formulations in a packaged environment.

Through this value-added service, Multisorb helps pharmaceutical manufacturers enhance product stability and brand integrity.

SimulSorb simulates the packaged environment, identifying Moisture Vapor Transmission (MVTR) and Oxygen Transfer (OTR) rates to calculate the moisture and oxygen ingress values.

From there, Multisorb's team of technical experts pseudo-empirically predict the relative humidity of a pharmaceutical package's headspace and drug product hydration level over time.

These calculations help Multisorb determine the quantity of active sorbent necessary to ensure product stability, and in turn, shelf life.

Implementation is significantly expedited, as conducting this analysis independently can be a time-consuming process.

"SimulSorb is a powerful tool for both formulation chemists and packaging engineers, enabling more accurate decision making when determining how to protect products against the damaging effects of moisture and oxygen," says Adrian Possumato, global manager, pharmaceutical market at Multisorb.

"We are committed to providing added value through programs such as this to better service our customers.

A key part of Multisorb's systems approach, SimulSorb provides consultation to customers "from calculations through operations.

Multisorb's approach includes analysis of all aspects of the moisture protection process, from pharmaceutical formulation to the packaging environment and throughout the distribution chain.

Multisorb's systems approach offers management strategies to preserve drug integrity in addition to providing sorbent technology, insertion equipment and technical support to manufacturers whose products require management of moisture and oxygen.
