Comaprene - No compromise from Marigold Industrial.
It believes recent court cases brought about as a result of breaches in health and safety legislation relating to hand protection should serve to act as a stark reminder of the consequences of not safeguarding workers hands.
The case of Photo-Me International which was fined 100,000 and ordered to pay 30,000 costs after four members of staff suffered from painful allergic dermatitis over a four year period shows just what an impact neglecting hand protection can have on both a company and its staff.
With print workers three times more likely to suffer from dermatitis than the UK industry standard as a result of the range of chemicals they are regularly exposed to, companies simply cannot afford to stand still where hand protection is concerned, says Marigold Industrials International marketing manager Donald Gillespie.
Even though it can easily be prevented by engineering out direct contact through a change in working practices and providing the right type of hand protection and hand hygiene measures, clearly mistakes are still being made in the industry, with workers paying the ultimate price with extremely painful and career threatening injuries, adds Donald.
Marigold Industrial is supporting the HSE Dermatitis awareness campaign, In Your Hands and has produced a free guide providing information on which types of gloves to use when carrying out some of the main tasks in the print industry.
