Mill-turn centre machines six faces
A mill-turn centre differs considerably from similar products from some lathe suppliers in that it is a piece of prismatic metalcutting equipment, which has been given extensive turning capabilities.
High performance machining centre cuts 'dry'
The latest new addition to the Stama range is the MC 326, a compact machine available in single- and twin-spindle formats and offers high performance machining in dry cutting conditions.
"GibbsCAM continues to be the dominant CAM solution for multi-task machining," stated Bill Gibbs, founder and president of Gibbs and Associates.
"Our collaboration with Matsuura's Production Software Business Department, to support their new CUBLEX-25, addresses a key end-user problem - high-quality post processors capable of supporting the unique capabilities of these highly advanced machine tools".
The CUBLEX-25 is a machining centre where turning and grinding functions are combined with 5-axis milling functions.
Compared to a conventional lathe-based mill-turn, the CUBLEX-25 is based on a 5-axis machining centre allowing it to maintain 100% milling performance.
The CUBLEX-25's extensive process integration capabilities allow high-speed, high-accuracy machining together with extended unmanned operation.
For turning operations, a unique mechanism is used to lock the spindle with a rotary table (C-axis) which is capable of high speed (3,000 RPM) rotation.
The rotary table direct drive motor is specially developed for the high-speed rotation required for turning, while maintaining the precision positioning capability required for milling.
Additionally, grinding operations are possible through the simultaneous rotation of the spindle and rotary table.
"The CUBLEX-25 represents a new range of products for Matsuura," commented Katsutoshi Matsuura, executive vice president of Matsuura Machinery Corporation.
"GibbsCAM's ability to support the full-range of the CUBLEX-25's capabilities while being extremely easy to use was very important to us".
"Working with Gibbs ensured that our customers realised the highest quality solution to support their CUBLEX-25 machining centres".
