Main theme during Matsuura's CNC machine tool Open House will be 'Multi Pallet Unmanned Production' supported by a multi-tasking machine with a 10 pallet system.

Three Matsuura multi-pallet machine tools will be shown for the first time in the UK at Matsuura Machinery's first Open House of 2008 on May 13-15 at the company's Leicestershire, UK headquarters To meet a growing UK demand for proven cost effective 'lights out' manufacturing, the event's main theme will be 'Multi Pallet Unmanned Production'

The Matsuura CUBLEX-25 - Mill-turn Multi-Tasking machine will be shown configured with a 10 pallet system.

* Five-axis machining - also new to the UK will be the Matsuura MAM72-42V five-pallet, 5-axis machine and the all new Matsuura H.Plus-300 horizontal machining centre - with the very latest space saving vertically orientated automatic pallet changer (APC) containing 15 300mm x 300mm pallets.

Matsuura UK has in recent years supplied many CNC production installations in the UK, which have been designed and project managed to not only compete against Far East and Eastern European competitors, but to make a profit.

Trying to compete with manufacturers at the bottom of the cost chain globally is not a futile exercise said Matsuura to manufacturingtalk.com.

The company said that it makes not only cost effective, but profitable systems for its UK customers - maximising their return on investment.

UK manufacturers which are intending to compete with overseas 'low cost' markets are actively encouraged by Matsuura to attend this Open House.

Matsuura said it can show a profitable way forward in the global manufacturing market place.

* Seminars - at the Open House Matsuura will be giving three short seminars a day (15 min each) in its new Conference Suite covering the following topics.

Multi pallet unmanned production.

5-axis multi pallet unmanned production.

TPS Outlook software - maximising machines' availability by Tool and Pallet Management and Scheduling.

This dynamic and easy to use software has been designed, developed and tested in Britain by Matsuura in conjunction with its customers.

Refreshments will be provided on all days, as well as special gifts and prizes - including Race Track Days with the Matsuura Alfa 156 Team - a prize that 'went down a storm' with last years winning attendees at Donington Park.

Breakfast will be served from 9.15 am and lunch will be available from 12 pm.

Among the many multi pallet machines on show engaged in live cutting demonstrations on all three days will be the following.

* Cublex 25 PC10 - 10 pallet 'multi-tasking machine', offering milling, turning and unmanned operation in a 5-axis multi pallet configuration; eagerly awaited in Europe, said Matsuura.

* H.Plus-300 PC15 - this is the UK launch of the H.Plus-300 horizontal machining centre.

The re-designed machining centre features 15 pallets in a vertically aligned stocker - reducing the machine footprint against the original multi pallet version substantially, said Matsuura.

* MAM72-42V PC5 - a 5-pallet version of Matsuura's class leading 5-axis machine.

* MAM72-63V - a large capacity 5-axis machine integrated with a Fastems FPC750 pallet stocker especially for the Open House.

This outstanding machine incorporates the Fastems System and shows a competitive cost effective way forward for the unmanned production of large, complex components.

Matsuura UK has supplied numerous Fastems pallet stockers with its machines - often project managing the whole design, integration and installation into the customers new or existing production process.

* MAM72-35V the latest version of a 5-axis multi pallet machine.

For over a decade, the 35V has been unrivalled in terms of APC and automatic tool changer (ATC) capacity, as well as its space saving configuration.

Matsuura said that this proven and reliable high quality vertical machining centre has become an industry standard for prismatic multi pallet 5-axis machine tools.

* Niigata SPN701 - Niigata manufactures only high quality, large capacity horizontal spindle machine tools.

Niigata's renowned 'Box in Box' design series, the SPN, was introduced in 1993.

Matsuura said it rapidly earned a formidable reputation for robust high speed machining excellence, reliability and cost effectiveness.

The SPN at Matsuura's Open House is in a twin pallet configuration.

Matsuura said it has to be seen to appreciate its full dimensional size and quality of build.

* Niigata HN80D - the HN Series are primarily heavy duty box way style machines that have the rigidity, balance and accuracy to take on the most arduous, heavy duty yet fine tolerance machining tasks.

Matsuura has installed and fully supports a number of HN Series machines in the UK.

A notable installation consists of five HN80D machines at a leading global aero engine manufacturer.

Again, the size, quality and capacity of this machine has to be seen to be fully appreciated, said Matsuura to manufacturingtalk.

Matsuura will be announcing more machines in attendance at the show in the near future - particularly from Stama (German milling/turning machines) and Muratec Murata (Japanese high quality, high volume turning centres).

Matsuura's product and process specialists will be available to discuss specific production applications and identify how they can help to optimise machining process efficiency, increase competitive advantage and maximise profitability through the use of unmanned, multi-pallet machining - whether a single machine tool or an integrated cell is involved.
