Sheet metal parts deburred and rounded
off
One of two machines for oxide removal and deburring of sheet metal parts can deburr and edge round both sides of sheet metal components in a single pass, including all the internal contours.
Making their debut at MACH 2006 were two new machines from Lissmac, for oxide removal and deburring of sheet metal parts to a patented design Rugby, UK-based Manufacturing Service Solutions (MSS) has acquired the exclusive distribution rights for the UK

MSS to market N2 generation plant in UK
With the aim of offering dramatic reductions in the cost of purchased gas, MSS will distribute domnick hunter nitrogen generation equipment for laser cutting in the UK.
As specialists in the service and supply of laser machines and nitrogen generators, MSS has added these two new machines to its portfolio so that it can offer a complete range of equipment to its customers.
Shown at MACH 2006, the Lissmac SBM-S 1000 is capable of deburring and edge rounding both sides of sheet metal components in a single pass, including all the internal contours.
Components up to 20mm thick and either 1000mm or 1500mm wide can be processed.
The single pass operation saves up to 60% of the cycle time when compared with conventional methods, by eliminating handling and turning.
The four counteracting deburring belts provide dry working conditions and will avoid damage to the parent metal - even components coated with a protective film can be passed through the machine without damage to the coating.
Alongside the SBM-S 1000, MSS will be exhibiting the Lissmac SBM-B 1000 steel brushing machine.
This machine provides reliable removal of oxide film from internal and external contours of laser cut components, and blending of sharp edges in one pass.
Available in two width capacities, 1000mm and 1500mm, the machine can process parts up to 20mm thick.
Four counteracting brushing belts complete both sides of the component simultaneously in a dry scouring action, which eliminates the need for dust or slurry extraction while maintaining any oil film present.
Introducing these machines will have a positive impact on quality.
Deburring overcomes health and safety issues caused by sharp edges, and ensures that downstream operations such as plating can be completed successfully.
Steel brushing cleans the surface, dulls sharp edges, and removes the oxide to provide an ideal surface for painting or powder coating, eliminating adhesion problems on the laser cut edge.
Both the deburring and the brushing machines offer an automatic, variable speed, feed mechanism making them easy to use and well suited to operating alongside a laser cutting machine, providing significant savings in handling and process time.
Lissmac has reported that its customers have achieved savings of 70%.
