Portable, easy-to-use gauge performs high-precision form measurements in production environments and its touchscreen software requires no keyboard to perform measurement tasks.

It is now easier than ever to conduct standard form measurements such as roundness, flatness, concentricity, axial run-out, and more directly on the shop floor thanks to a new, portable form measuring instrument from Mahr Federal The new MarForm MMQ 100 offers outstanding accuracy in a robust, economical package designed for use in production environments

"Metrology is becoming increasingly important for testing form and positional deviations," said Pat Nugent, vice president, Metrology Systems, for Mahr Federal.

"Now, with the MMQ 100, managers can identify production errors and eliminate them almost as quickly as they occur".

"This helps minimize rework and rejection rates, and saves both time and money." Weighing in at just under 62 lb (28kg) and able to measure parts 14in (375mm) in diameter and 18.5in (470mm) high, the MMQ 100 is highly versatile and easy to set up and operate on the shop floor.

Reliable mechanical bearings eliminate the need for compressed air, and all MMQ 100 instruments come equipped with Dell Optiplex Small Form Factor Chassis computers with wireless keyboards, and run on Windows or Windows XP operating systems.

However, operation with Mahr EasyForm Touchscreen software requires no keyboard or mouse.

All necessary functions are available at the touch of a finger and measurement routines have been simplified to facilitate operation by production operators using an intuitive user interface.

Manual part setup is assisted by the computer and measurement results are displayed in 3D color graphics.

The MMQ 100 is optimized to perform a number of form measuring tasks including roundness (also in a section), flatness (from one circle), concentricity, coaxiality, radial run-out, axial run-out, plane parallelism from two opposite circles, and Fourier/waviness analysis.

But EasyForm software also incorporates powerful, interactive tools for program creation and customisation.

The 32 function keys of the touchscreen can be identified with images of workpieces and assigned to relevant measuring programs, making measurement a one touch operation.

EasyForm is based on the highly optimized MarWin platform.

Measurement and evaluation routines can easily be combined with other MarWin modules, and programs written on the MMQ 100 can be readily run on other MarWin-based instruments, and vice versa.

Measurement records can be stored electronically, documented in paperless form, and sent electronically via email, or printed in color or black and white using standard Windows PC peripherals.
