Ensuring master ring gauges are to
tolerance
An innovative program is designed for users who must ensure that their master rings are actually within the class (tolerance grade) they are manufactured to at the time of their purchase.
Mahr Federal has introduced an innovative program designed for customers who must ensure that their master rings are actually within the class (tolerance grade) they are manufactured to at the time of their purchase Under the Class Assurance Guarantee Programme, Mahr Federal guarantees that its Master Rings will be within the class ordered, or the ring will be replaced and full credit will be issued for its purchase price

Surface finish gauge measures multiple parts
Mahr Federal's surface finish guage will index and measure multiple small parts, such as gears, fuel injector components, or inner and outer bearing components.
Mahr form measuring machine checks spindles
In manufacturing ultra high precision air bearing spindles, Air Bearings chose a Mahr Federal machine to check spindle characteristics such as roundness, concentricity and cylindricity.
"For high precision manufacturers and especially those 'loss of life' customers who manufacture for the aerospace, medical or military industries, having cylindrical masters meet specified class tolerance is critical," said George Schuetz, director precision gages for Mahr Federal.
"Yet too often, master rings purchased with certifications to class from vendors, must be re-measured by the purchaser at time of receipt.
Our Mahr Federal Class Assurance Guarantee Programme is designed to eliminate the need for this expensive and time-consuming process." Master rings are manufactured to classes, based on tolerances to sub-microns/millionths of an inch.

Mahr Federal said that its MarSurf WS 1 surface measurement device uses white-light interferometry to provide fast, high precision, non-contact measurement of surface texture.
Height gauge has three ways of measuring
Height gauge offers three measurement techniques: a normal keypad initiation; a Quick Mode feature and two Speed Keys to move the measuring carriage to the desired position.
Master rings with the slightest errors at this level can influence the performance of manufactured parts.
"The programme also helps to ensure that master rings continue to meet class specification in subsequent calibrations," said Schuetz.
"Since the class is guaranteed at time of receipt, there is a reduced chance of measurement error at the next annual certification when it is too late to dispute the original class." According to Schuetz, Mahr Federal can make this assurance guarantee because its metrology laboratory in Providence, RI, is ranked one of the world's finest.
All Grand Masters used in the Mahr Federal Precision Measurement Center have been certified by NIST for direct traceability to the standards of the United States.
The calibration system in the Precision Measurement Center is certified to ISO 17025 under the NVLAP certification body.
Mahr Federal's master rings are ground and then lapped to size.
Ring faces are ground and all non-gaging areas black oxidized.
They are manufactured in accordance with ANSI specification B89.1.6-2002, and available in hardened steel, chrome plated or tungsten carbide.
Mahr Federal, a member of the Mahr Group, is known worldwide for its expertise in providing dimensional measurement solutions.
The ISO 9001:2000-certified company manufactures and markets a wide variety of dimensional metrology products, and is headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, USA.
