The book, 'Quality Gaging Tips', includes more than 140 columns arranged by measurement topic, with additional illustrations not originally included in the magazine.
"True to their subject matter, these columns present good science and good art," said Mark Albert, editor in chief of 'Modern Machine Shop', in his introduction.

This book is both useful and fun to read, as it truly should be." Author George Schuetz, director Precision Gages for Mahr Federal.
said: "The real purpose behind the Quality Gaging Tips column was to take the fundamentals of gaging and present them in a way that was easy to read, informative and relevant to the readers of 'Modern Machine Shop'.
Our hope is that packaging these in book form will help you keep these columns at your finger tips for quick reference and help train people new to the business of measurement." The book is arranged around 14 general topics that relate to measurement: Indicators; Gaging Basics; Surface Finish; Electronics; Calibration; Hole Measurement; SPC; Machine Calibration; Gage Blocks; Geometry; Air Gaging; Automatic Gaging; Hand Tools; and Gaging Applications.
"Although dimensional gaging is a dynamic field, with new developments in measurement devices and techniques, the fundamental principles and basic techniques are timeless," said Albert.
"Thus, a collection of Quality Gaging Tips has lasting value.
Both new users and experienced personnel will find this book useful as a reference and guide.
However, the book also lends itself to fruitful browsing.
Reading this book will likely reinforce a grasp of dimensional gaging science as well as renew your respect and admiration for the art of it." The book, Quality Gaging Tips, is available on the Hanser Gardner Web site, and author George Schuetz may be visited in person at a number of upcoming North American industry trade shows, including EASTEC, MD and M East, Quality Expo Detroit 2006, and IMTS.
